On auction a modern version of the traditional wooden torch. The Olympic Torch was realized by Pinifarina,the Official Supplier of Torino 2006.
Technical characteristics:
The torch designed by Pininfarina has been developed to fulfil the technical requirements of the IOC: it must never go out, not even in rain, snow, or in winds up to 120 km/h. The flame should never reach higher than 10 cm, and should last 15 minutes. 765 mm high, 108 mm in diameter, and weighing 1850 g, the Torch is made in aluminium and contains parts in steel, copper and techno-polymers.
The torch will be signed by the last 5 torch-bearers: Alberto Tomba, the storic relay of Lillehammer (Maurilio del Zolt, Silvio Fauner, Marco Albarello, Giorgio Vanzetta), Piero Gros, Deborah Compagnoni, Stefania Belmondo and will be given to the winner of the auction by Deborah Compagnoni on the occasion of charity event Skiing with the champions, that will take place at Santa Caterina Valfuria (Italy) on the 26th of march 2006.
100% of the funds raised will be donated to Un sogno per il Gaslini the No Profit org of the Gaslini Pediatric Hospital in Genua.
We remind you that this is an auction with pre approved buyer and not verified bidders won't be allowed. Travel and hotel costs to and from Santa Caterina Valfurva aren't included in the lot. To place a bid you must be at least 18 years old.
