Bedankt Meg.
Whitman also listed several lessons she has learned during her eBay years. Among them:
• Realize the importance of disruptive ideas, which she said is "very challenging at a big company." "If we are not willing to disrupt ourselves, if we are not willing to do it to ourselves, then we may have someone else do it to us," she said.
• Never compromise your integrity. Employees wondering if they are doing the right thing need only to imagine their mother, father, sister or husband watching, and ask, "Would they be proud?" They also can imagine how their actions would be interpreted if printed on the front page of The New York Times, she said.
• The price of inaction is far greater than the cost of a mistake. Doing nothing is a bad business strategy, because the world "is moving at warp speed," she said. "We have made many mistakes over the years, but if you create a culture of making mistakes and fixing them fast, I think that makes all the difference. And I'm a firm believer that there's an enormous cost to inaction that far outweighs the costs of making a mistake."
